The Ethics of Cursing...why some don't and why some do...

Although the wildly popular tradition Wicca bans cursing, alot of other very old traditions swear by it. I am not here to tell you what is right or wrong for you, just my take on why that is. The Wiccan Rede States "Do what thou wilt, an harm none'. Aliester Crowley said 'Do what thou will shall be the whole of the law" A chaos magician once said 'Nothing is true, everything is permitted' These are all valid magical statements and it is up to you what you feel is truth, nobody call decide that for you.

I come from the tradition of Voodoo and Hoodoo and I believe strongly in cursing, to me anything I would do in the physical realm is likened to what I would be willing to do in the spiritual realm, For example if somebody stole my car or stabbed me I would call the police and have them prosecuted. They would likley get convicted and go to jail. This would be an unpleasant experience for them, they would be unhappy as a result of their actions and my reaction to their actions. They would have set off a series of events that casued them unhappiness and possibly physical pain. if somebody hits me I am going to hit back, even harder.

Cursing is no different. I only place curses on deserving individuals and they get what was coming to them. I believe that revenge is a right, that justice is a right and quite often if we do not act to spiritually punish an individual they will continue to wreak havok on peoples lives, so I believe that cursing is a good thing.

I recomend that one always perform a divination before doing any working because sometimes what we want and what we should do are two different things. Take special consideration when cursing someone who has children as the results may cause harm to an innocent victem. In the case that your divination warns you against a curse you can always try a binding.

Also, you can invoke the spirits of your ancestors and ask them to take care of the problem person without giving them any specific instructions, this is very effective.

If you believe that what you do will come back to you one, three or even ten fold then I advise you not to do or say anything that could possibly hurt someones feelings, damage their ego or make them feel unhappy, and most of all, don't curse!

If you believe that bad behavior warrants behavior modification at the least  and punishment and a lengthy time out at the most them cursing may be for you. I am in no way saying that one tradition is better than another, I am simply stating that the beliefs of some don't represent the beliefs of all. If you don't agree with my theory and practise of cursing thats fine, but don't try to push your views on me with angry emails, just don't place curses on people, if you do feel that you need some justice for the unfair and horrible things that people have done to you, contact me, I can help.
